Turkish Premier Davutoğlu addressed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Turkish.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue during his speech, he said the latest developments witnessed in the Eastern Mediterranean and around had once again revealed the importance of solving the Cyprus problem without any delay.
“Our commitment to a target of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem which will be based on the political equality of the two peoples continues. We are providing every support. We desire the establishment of a comprehensive solution on the island and we support the leaders’ effective and constructive efforts towards this aim. I want to stress that a solution which is targeted to be reached in 2016 could only be possible through the energy and sincere efforts of the related sides. Reaching the target of solution will be an important step towards turning the Eastern Mediterranean into a region of peace, stability and cooperation. And this is for the benefit of especially the two sides of Cyprus, all related sides, the international community and the European Council” Davutoğlu said.
