YKP (New Cyprus Party) issued a statement today reminding YKP’s General Assembly decisions taken on 7th of April 2012 regarding the urgency of Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Cyprus.
In their statement YKP noted that one of the main decisions that had come out from party’s general assembly who convened in April 2012 was the urgency of founding a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Cyprus.
YKP states that following CTP-BG MP Doğuş Derya’s speech in the parliament last week which sparked heated public debate regarding the atrocities on 50s, 60s and 70s and the need to face the past the issue was once again revealed. “Our party has been drawing attention to the issue for many years now” said YKP.
“One of the main decisions that came out from our General Assembly in 2012 was the urgency of Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Cyprus in order to face the past. In the framework of latest debates we wanted to bring the issue on the agenda again” read the statement.”
