During the discussions of the Foreign Ministry Budgetary discussions in parliament, UBP MP Ersan Saner, who took the stand, touched on the issue of the hydrocarbon exploration and said “no one should expect the ship to withdraw”.

Saner indicated that the Turkish Cypriots had as much right as the Greek Cypriots to explore for oil. Speaking within the framework of the budgetary discussions, Saner went on to say that the only important point in the Cyprus issue was ‘intent’. He added that Greek Cypriot president Anastasiades displayed ‘a planned behaviour’ in order for the talks not to restart.

Saner pointed out that Anastasiades had used the economic issues as an excuse prior to this in order to stall the talks from starting. He added “Anastasiades has no intention to start”.
