The divided island’s two leaders were very clear that following this month’s meetings at UN headquarters in New York they will see a period of intense activity, said Aleem Siddique.
“Both leaders made clear they anticipate that November and December will be a period of intensification of meetings and during that period a lot of hard work remains to be done,” Siddique said.
“Any negotiation process will have its ups and downs, the importance is that bumps are no longer seen as barriers, they are hurdles that need to be overcome,” he added.
Siddique also said that both President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci seem determined to overcome these hurdles while keeping a very firm joint vision for a united federal Cyprus.
