Meeting with the President and delegation of TDP
We came today at the Headquarters of the Communal and Democracy Party (TDP) to meet with President Cemal Özyiğit and a delegation of his party. We want to thank President Ozyigit for his kind invitation, which is another step to strengthen even more the relations between our two parties. Relations, that are based on mutual respect and understanding. Today, we exchanged views on the Cyprus Problem and the new effort carried out by President Anastasiades and the leader of the T/c community, Mr Akintzi.
We reaffirmed our common vision for a reunited Cyprus. We strongly believe that the constructive positions of your party are crucial for the realization of this common vision. We do not pretend that the road ahead of us is free from difficulties. But it is our strong belief that with mutual respect and understanding, we can identify and strengthen the issues that unite us, while at the same time find appropriate solutions for the issues that remain unsolved. Solutions, that will be on the good interest of all Cypriots and will create a prosperous and peaceful homeland for both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, where everyone enjoys all human rights and European values and freedoms.
Elections in Turkey
Yesterday’s elections in Turkey resulted in a victory for AKP Party and President Erdogan and the formation of a strong, single party Government. Our message is clear:
With the Turkish Elections now over and the removal of any political obstacles, if Turkey really means business, we can reach a viable and mutually beneficial agreement for both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. The solution of the Cyprus Problem will create positive synergies for all stakeholders in the area and will also give a new perspective and dynamic into Turkey’s negotiations with the EU.
