Populism, a roaring trade

A couple of hours after ENI announced  the giant – 30 trillion cubic feet – natural gas discovery in Egypt’s Shorouk Block (adjacent to Cyrpus’ EEZ block 11), the usual suspects started flooding the media with press releases and public statements.

Political parties, such as Diko, Edek, Citizens’ Alliance and the Greens without having any real expertise, without even knowing what exactly was going on, were quick to offer advice to the government and even criticise the President and the Energy Minister for inadequacy.
