Twenty two civil society organisations, unions and three political parties have announced the foundation of the “No to Nuclear Platform” today.
The Platforms spokesperson Hasan Sarpten and several members held a press conference at the Doctors’ Union building in Nicosia and announced the foundation of the platform. Speaking during the press conference on behalf of the Platfrom Hasan Sarpten criticized Turkey’s plans to build a nuclear plant in Mersin Akkuyu located 90 km away from Cyprus and emphasized the environmental inconveniences of nuclear plants as well as its potential hazards to human health.
