Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and newly-elected Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci took a stroll across both sides of the divide on Saturday morning after meeting for a coffee on Ledra Street.
Anastasiades was accompanied by government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides, Nicosia mayor Constantinos Yiorkatzis and Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis.
The social meeting is part of confidence-building measures aiming to bring the two estranged communities closer together. Last week, Anastasiades and Akinci met for almost four hours after an eight month-long freezing of the UN-brokered peace process.
Anastasiades welcomed Akinci at a little over 11am in the buffer zone and two walked together……….
