Government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides on Tuesday said Israel has neither asked Nicosia nor suggested that a much-rumoured prospective Israel-Turkey gas pipeline should pass through Cyprus.
And that Israel is fully aware that such an ambitious plan provides for the settlement of the Cyprus problem first.
“Every time the President of the Republic talks with the Prime Minister of Israel – something which often takes place – makes clear that Cyprus’ position is that without the settlement of the Cyprus problem first, something like that within our Exclusive Economic Zone cannot take place,” Christodoulides also said.
