The frontier between north and south Cyprus is easily crossed these days. It is also one of the more pleasant border crossings you could hope for. If you’re in Nicosia, it is simply a matter of walking along a short stretch of Ledras street across the UN-monitored ‘green line’. Potted plants mark the way and officials at either end make a quick check of your passport.
But if you want to experience the novelty of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus – a self-declared state recognised by no-one but Turkey – you should go soon. The border may not be around for much longer.
