GC worry of properties in Turkey hands

GC newspaper PHILELEFTEROS carries a report claiming that properties exchanged for compensation at the Immovable Property Commission in the TRNC, are now in the hands of Turkey.

The paper says that since its establishment in 2006, the commission has paid 189 million pounds Sterling in compensation for 13 km squared of GC property in the north. It also says that the TC side has indicated that properties which have compensation paid for them are now TC properties and therefore not open to discussion. It claims that with this manoeuvre Turkey is trying to create the mentality of the bi-communal, bi-zonal federation.
