The new European Commission report on Turkey slams the country on human rights but praises the EU candidate for expressing support for UN special envoy Espen Barth Eide in his efforts on Cyprus peace talks.
The report criticizes Turkey for its slow pace in reforms, pointing out that legislation on some important issues does not comply with European standards.
The Commission also condemns Turkey for its actions in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone between October 2014 and April 2015, when it had issued a NAVTEX marine advisory which disputed the island’s rights to exploit its own natural resources.
