Cyprus talks negotiators get back to work


Chief negotiators Andreas Mavrogiannis and Ozdil Nami were set to resume talks on Tuesday following the summer break with territories the big topic on the agenda.

With the crucial summit set to take place on September 1 between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, both men have been strenuously trying to lay down the groundwork particularly on sensitive issues that have in the past been a huge stumbling block for a solution between the two communities on the island.

These involved territory, security, property disputes and guarantees although simply tackling one of these issues could create a positive domino effect for other thorny issues.
