Cypriot parties support a united multicultural society

Leaders and representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties support the vision of a united multicultural society with full respect for all citizens and communities, their rights and their culture.
According to a joint communique, read out by the Ambassador of Slovakia to Cyprus Oxana Tomova after today’s meeting at the Ledra Palace hotel, the parties of both sides constructively expressed opinions on the issue proposed by the hosting party, the Cyprus Green Party: ‘Going on with the hot discussion: How to reach the vision of a unified society’.
“The parties strongly condemn the recent attacks by some Greek Cypriot nationalistic young people against some Turkish Cypriots. The parties also condemn any violence from anywhere which supports the idea of ethnic separation,” the communique says.
The next regular meeting of the political parties will be held on Wednesday, 9 December at the Ledra Palace hotel, in the UN-controlled buffer zone, dividing the island’s northern Turkish occupied areas from the southern government controlled part of the country.
