Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides on Tuesday dismissed Turkish reports saying the population in a reunited federal Cyprus will be about 734 thousand Greek Cypriots and 220 thousand Turkish Cypriots including Turkish settlers.
And that the two leaders in divided Cyprus have reached agreement on this at the ongoing UN-brokered peace talks in Nicosia.
“There is no truth in that report (by daily Hurriyet). This is not the way it is, our side’s general principle is that the (population) ratio should be in accordance with the 1960 state of affairs (when the island became independent),” Christodoulides said.
