Hundreds of people from both sides of the divide came together at the historic Çentinkaya stadium last night to listen to songs of peace by famous singers Zülfü Livaneli and Maria Faranduri.
Among those who were at the concert located in the UN buffer zone was President Mustafa Akıncı and First Lady Meral Akıncı.
Livaneli and Faranduri were also joined on stage by Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot singers Umut Albayrak and Kouils Theodorou.
Shortly after his arrival, Turkish singer Zülfü Livaneli was received by President Mustafa Akıncı.
Livaneli presented his latest book Konstantiniyye Otel (The Hotel Constantiople) while Akıncı presented his own book to the Turkish singer.
Speaking via telephone on BRT yesterday evening, the Turkish singer gave a message of peace to both peoples on the island.
