President Mustafa Akıncı has announced that no traces of landmines have been found in 25 of the 28 minefields presented by the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiadis at their first meeting on the 15th of May.

The 28 minefields had been created by Greek Cypriot Forces prior to 1974.

Speaking at a press conference at noon today, the President said that inspections have been held by teams from the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces within the areas of which coordinates were provided by the Greek Cypriot Side.
