Peace Initiative held a march to support ongoing negotiations and Cyprus reunification

The Bi-communal Peace Initiative which is made up of 73 organizations and NGOs from both sides of the divide held a march today in North and South Lefkoşa in expression of its support to the ongoing Cyprus negotiations and the reunification of the island.

Members of the initiative who met in front of the TRNC Presidency handed a letter to President Mustafa Akıncı.

The group later crossed over to South Cyprus and marched to the office Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiadis where the same letter was handed.


In its message the bi-communal peace initiative called upon the two leaders to maximize their efforts to implement their common declared vision for peace and reunification.

The group also called upon the broad masses on both sides to unite in action to push forward for a solution, stating that securing peace for the future generations was far more important than the compromises that were needed to be made.
